Week 1
Sun 1st – DR Congo Please pray for the teacher at Ephphatha who recently lost her father amidst the ongoing violence and chaos in Goma. Pray also for everyone at Ephphatha after they recently lost another member of their community and pray for everyone across the country that has lost loved ones so far in the ongoing conflict.
Mon 2nd – Uganda Pray for the 15 families in our Bunambuyte project who have lost their homes in recent floods. Pray also for a young girl who broke both of her legs during the floods.
Tue 3rd – India Pray for students in our partners’ programs as they return to school this term and praise God for keeping them safe over the holidays (sadly, during this time, as there is less supervision, there are often more cases of injury and abuse).
Wed 4th – Indonesia It’s been very rainy in Southwest Sumba and there’s many cases of malaria amongst the families we serve. Pray for quick and complete healing for everyone who’s infected (particularly the children, who are more vulnerable) and pray for protection over our partners and the rest of the community from further spread of the disease.
Thu 5th – Cambodia Praise God for giving good health to (Sunshine’s Program Manager) Sen’s three-month-old daughter, who we prayed for in March.
Fri 6th – Uganda Praise God for Esther at Wakisa who has long served as sponsorship coordinator but is now finishing up because she is moving away to undertake further studies. Pray for Wakisa as they begin looking for a new sponsorship coordinator.
Sat 7th – WorldShare As we approach the end of the financial year, we praise God for all of our supporters. We know it’s been a challenging year financially for many people here in Australia and so we thank God for their continued financial support (and support in prayer) towards the work of our partners overseas and the communities they serve.
Week 2
Sun 8th – Uganda Praise God that the recent outbreak of Ebola (in the regions where our partners serve) has been brought under control.
Mon 9th – DR Congo Pray that banks in Goma would reopen soon. They’ve been closed since January (when rebel soldiers first entered the city) and people have been unable to access their money this whole time! Praise God that our partners have been able to access our financial support through banks just across the border in Rwanda and so been able to continue providing emergency support to the most vulnerable people in the community.
Tue 10th – Cambodia Praise God that Sunshine’s recent Children’s Club and Parent’s club went so well. Along with the benefits for the parents and kids, they’re a great chance for Sunshine to connect with, and follow the progress of, families in the community.
Wed 11th – Indonesia Pray for safety for partners as they travel between the villages they serve. The recent rain has made the local roads even more dangerous, slippery and prone to landslides.
Thu 12th – India Pray for the teacher at BCM who recently had heart surgery. Pray for her full and timely recovery and that, when she’s ready, she can have a smooth return to the classroom.
Fri 13th – DR Congo Pray for one of Ephphatha’s church leaders, whose father was taken from their home at night and hasn’t been seen since. Pray for his safe return. Pray for all of the people (including other members of the Ephphatha community) who have been kidnapped in recent weeks as part of the ongoing conflict.
Sat 14th – Uganda Pray for Rose in CFM’s welfare team, who has been unwell for the past few weeks. Pray for a full and speedy recovery.
Week 3
Sun 15th – DR Congo Pray that peace talks between the M23 and the DRC government can be finalised and committed to by both sides. So far this year there have been a number of ceasefire agreements but no sign of a true ceasefire on the ground. Pray that a true ceasefire can be reached soon.
Mon 16th – Uganda Pray for the power instillation at Wakisa’s new maternity centre, which has been held up by a change of management at the power company. Pray that it might be installed soon.
Tue 17th – Indonesia Praise God for our partners’ new health worker and children’s worker that recently joined their Sumba team. We have been praying for these two positions in recent months, so thank you for your prayers and praise God for answering them.
Wed 18th – India Continue praying for the staff member at BCM who has two close family members struggling with alcoholism. Pray that they might find healing and strength to overcome their challenges and pray God would bless her efforts to support them.
Thu 19th – Cambodia Pray for the mother of one of Sunshine’s staff, who has been suffering from intense muscle spasms for the past few months. She’s been unable to work as a result and hasn’t seen any improvement from the various treatments they’ve tried so far. Pray that God would ease her pain, restore her strength and give her full healing soon.
Fri 20th – DR Congo Praise God that Ephphatha has been able to provide emergency food packages for 85 of the most vulnerable households from the deaf community, who have been facing severe malnutrition and starvation as a result of extreme food shortages in the city.
Sat 21st – Uganda Praise God for blessing CFM’s outreach activities. In recent months 322 people have given their lives to Christ and three churches have been planted.
Week 4
Sun 22nd – Uganda Praise God for the recent provision of some much-needed maternity equipment to the Wakisa Centre.
Mon 23rd – DR Congo Pray for people living in the displaced people (IDP) camps around Goma. The soldiers are reportedly ordering them to leave the camps and return to their villages, but many villages have been ravaged by the war and so there is nothing (no food, homes, or livelihood) for them to return to.
Tue 24th – Cambodia Praise God for blessing recent meetings between Sunshine and government officials from the education sector. May He continue to bless them as they work together to better serve the school children in their communities.
Wed 25th – India Many families in the communities that BCM serve lack proper identification documents. This causes many challenges in terms of accessing housing, services, loans, etc. Pray that local political leaders can prioritise the welfare of these vulnerable communities and help get the documents they need.
Thu 26th – Indonesia Praise God that the commercial gardens (established as part of our partner’s agricultural project) are being run well and developing. Praise God also that the plants are growing well.
Fri 27th – DR Congo Praise God that the work of rebuilding Ephphatha’s church (which was bombed during the battle for the city) has begun and is going well. Pray for continued progress and provision.
Sat 28th – Uganda Praise God for Barbra (CFM’s Livelihood Manager) who graduated last month with a postgraduate diploma in monitoring and evaluation.
Week 5
Sun 29th – DR Congo Continue praying for the people of Goma. While the initial battle is over, chaos and violence still reign – with daily reports of gunfire, violent crime and dire food shortages. Pray for protection, provision and peace for our partners and the people of Goma and the surrounding regions.
Mon 30th – WorldShare Praise God for all of our ministry partners overseas. Many of them have faced incredible challenges this year (ranging from civil war to skyrocketing costs and shortages of food and essentials). Pray for God’s protection and provision over them and their communities. Pray also for God’s wisdom, provision, and guidance as we work to support them.
