Although there have been recent attempts at a peace treaty, violence continues to plague the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). And the situation on the ground is getting much worse.
In early 2025, the city of Goma fell to rebel forces after a major offensive. Violence has continued to escalate across the region, leaving families gripped by uncertainty and fear. In recent weeks, drones have crashed near our local mission partners, and there are widespread reports of forced arrests, recruitment, and senseless killings. One child in a partner community was orphaned after rebels took and killed his father.
Every aspect of daily life has deteriorated. Health risks are rising sharply. Communities are being displaced. And with fighting now reported on multiple fronts, the people of Eastern DRC are facing renewed and very real threats of conflict.
But even in the midst of this chaos, there is hope.
Hope that shines through the faith of believers like Tina*. Hope sustained by the prayers and generosity of people like you. Hope made tangible through the work of WorldShare partners in the field. And it is this hope that I am asking you to help strengthen today.
Tina’s story began with heartbreak. When her mother left her husband in Kinshasa, she brought young Tina to North Kivu to live with her parents. There, they survived only on small, seasonal harvests – never enough, always uncertain. Then tragedy struck again. Tina’s mother passed away, and her ageing grandparents could no longer care for her.
Yet even from such a painful beginning, God was at work.
“At 6 years old I fell ill with meningitis,” she explains. “At 8 years old I could no longer hear or speak normally.” Then Tina’s uncle stepped up. He brought her to his home in Goma and she was initially happy he did. “Yet instead of being showered with affection, my uncle’s wife didn’t consider me the same as her children, because I couldn’t hear.”
Fortunately, her uncle enrolled Tina in WorldShare’s local partner-run Centre for the Deaf. “In third grade, I became deaf but my schooling was well-managed. Yet I helplessly watched as the gifts and clothes my uncle gave me were stolen. My uncle’s sisters, out of jealousy, were behind it all,” Tina adds softly.
Through the support of WorldShare’s ministry partner, Tina’s life began to change. Step-by-step, she grew in faith, gained an education, and discovered her God‑given potential.
“I gradually gained favour in the eyes of my loved ones… I obtained my state diploma in pedagogy, and a job… and finally, my legal marriage (civil and religious ceremony).”
She points out that thanks to supporters like you, through our partner she has received “schooling, daily rations at school, medical care, the word of God, and food lately during this war. When I got sick, they paid my bills, and I got a job teaching at the primary school.”

Thanks to supporters like you, through our partner, Tina was able to get an education that would not otherwise have been possible and was strengthened when she was faltering. Now with a job, husband and children of her own, Tina’s future looks bright.
It’s what we at WorldShare live to hear. Transformation made possible through faith, works, and support, to make the almost-impossible, possible. Will you help us do more?
With your generous support, our love and impact is not bound by borders.
Through WorldShare’s ministry partners, we are serving many at-risk communities with life-altering interventions such as emergency food parcels, health, vocational training, education, community-based savings groups, and gospel evangelism. Will you help us?
And through Christ, your giving becomes hope in action – restoring dignity, protecting the vulnerable, and proclaiming God’s love across the nations. Just as we did together for Tina and her family in DR Congo.
In Cambodia, your kindness is helping create a better future. Projects include water filters for families, livelihood development (training and startup funds), mothers and fathers clubs for training on key issues (child rights, positive discipline, family finances) and school supplies for children in need.
In India, your partnership is transforming children’s lives from families working in harsh and dangerous conditions in the rock-cutting quarries of Bangalore. Our child sponsorships here ensure that children can access a quality education.
In Indonesia, your giving enables families to gain access to vital nutrition and health support, learn sustainable farming practices, protect children, and build hope for the future from village savings groups that nurture life‑giving businesses.
In Uganda, your generosity allows our partners to continue to offer medical care, protection, and refuge to displaced families and vulnerable children. Doors can remain open to places of healing and safety, and the young do not go without a meal.
Please give generously today. Be the difference, to transform lives and build up struggling communities.
Your generous response to this EOFY appeal does far more than answer a cry for help in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It becomes part of a living, global testimony of Christian love – one that chooses compassion over indifference and faith over fear. To help vulnerable families and struggling communities in Asia, India and Africa.
