“My greatest fear was that I wouldn’t be able to afford the medication my son needs…””

This Easter – as we celebrate the steadfast hope we have in Jesus – will you help bring hope and stability to vulnerable families like Mary’s?

For vulnerable families overseas, one of the biggest challenges of poverty is the instability that comes from just scraping by day to day.

All it takes is one unexpected medical bill, or a crop ruined by insects, or a broken-down bicycle you need to get to work – and suddenly you can’t afford to send your children to school or feed your family. You’re constantly living one misfortune away from having it all come undone.

Mary knows this uncertainty firsthand, “As a mother, that was my greatest fear,” she says. “I was struggling even to feed the children, let alone pay school fees… and I could not keep up with the medication my son needed. It felt like everything could collapse at any moment.”

But then, two years ago, Mary discovered a community savings group run by our local partner in Uganda. She learned to save consistently, invested in her small textiles business, and found a community that walked alongside her.

“Today, because of the savings group,” she explains, “I can now pay school fees, give timely medication for my son and still provide the essential needs for my children… I also have the security of knowing that if something goes wrong, I can borrow from the group. I have never had support like this before.”

Whether it’s savings groups in Uganda, school programs in India, clean water in Cambodia, healthcare in the DR Congo or farming support in Indonesia, all of our programs across the world are creating the kind of stability that helps take families from barely surviving each day to steadily building a future for themselves.

And the most powerful way to provide this kind of stability is through regular monthly giving.

That’s because when you become a monthly giver to WorldShare’s Transformation Project, your impact becomes two-fold.

For families like Mary’s, monthly giving creates the stable foundation vulnerable families need to build a better future. But it also creates stability for WorldShare and our partners so they can continue to provide both immediate help and the kind of sustainable development that transforms lives for generations.

Pray with us

  • Praise God for a ceasefire (after two years of devastating conflict). Praise God that it has opened up an opportunity to get humanitarian aid to these families. Pray that the ceasefire would hold and that food, water and emergency aid can reach these families as quickly and effectively as possible.
  • Praise God for our local Christian partners on the ground. Praise God for their faithfulness in serving their neighbours throughout the crisis, and pray that God would give them protection, wisdom and stamina, as they strive to make the most of this opportune moment in time.
  • Pray for the people in Gaza that are suffering. Pray for those facing starvation and malnutrition, pray that the food and water and aid can reach them quickly and have incredible impact on their wellbeing. And pray also for families who are grieving, for those who have been displaced and who have lost loved ones during two years of conflict. Pray that God would give them His peace and comfort, and restore hope in their hearts.

ABOUT WORLDSHARE

WorldShare is a community of believers passionate about showing and sharing the love of Jesus.

We’re also a Christian aid and development organisation that has been working since 1943 to see lives transformed and hope restored across the world, particularly amongst the most vulnerable and marginalised, as together, we love like Jesus.

We work exclusively through local Christian partnerships – our ministry partners – to empower the outcast and forgotten through education, health care and sharing the gospel, so they can bring lasting change to their communities and have hope for a brighter future.

Yes! I want to give the gift of HOPE and STABILITY this Easter!
