The people of Goma urgently need your prayers!
You may have seen in the news over the few days that the civil conflict in the DR Congo has escalated dramatically.
The situation is dire. Hundreds of thousands of displaced people have taken refuge in Goma and now M23 rebel forces have invaded the city. There is gunfire and explosions ringing out across the city. Water and electricity have been cut off and food is in desperately short supply.
We are in contact with our partners but, as you can imagine, with all the chaos and without electricity, our communication is intermittent and we are still trying to get a full picture of what is happening on the ground.
We will be updating the WorldShare website (worldshare.org.au/goma) with information as it becomes available.
In the meantime, please join us and our partners in praying for:
- The city of Goma and the over 2 million people who live there. Pray for God’s protection over the city.
- The families in Mugunga camp where HEAL Africa run a school. Pray for safety and protection for them.
- The deaf community at Ephphatha who are particularly vulnerable as they cannot hear the signs of danger and cannot hear radio reports and other key information.
- The soldiers on both sides of the conflict pray that God would give them hearts of grace and mercy towards all the civilians they come across in this battle.
- That God would provide food and water for all the people in Goma, especially now that all the supply routes into the city have been cut off.
