Week 1
Thu 1st – DR Congo Continue praying for the people of Goma. While the initial battle is over (with the rebels claiming victory and the city) chaos and violence still reign, with daily reports of continued gunfire, violent crime and dire food shortages. Pray for protection, provision and peace for people in the city of Goma and the surrounding regions.
Fri 2nd – Uganda Continue praying for the outbreak of Ebola in the regions where our partners serve. Pray for protection over our partners, their families and the people in their communities. Pray that the outbreak can be contained and doesn’t spread any further.
Sat 3rd – India Praise God for the teachers, social workers, and program staff who work tirelessly to support the children and families in BCM’s programs. Pray that God would continue to give them strength, wisdom, and encouragement in their mission.
Sun 4th – Indonesia Praise God that the early stages of the new Child Sponsorship Program in Southwest Sumba continue to be going well. Praise God for the 80 families that are going to be part of the program.
Mon 5th – Cambodia Continue praying for everyone at Sunshine and their families, as there is still a lot of illness going around the community at the moment. Pray for good health and protection from sickness.
Tue 6th – Uganda Continue praising God for the young mums at Wakisa who have been able to return to school. Pray for them as they face the unique challenges of parenting alongside the ‘typical’ challenges of school life. Praise God that Wakisa can support them through their sponsorship program.
Wed 7th – DR Congo Pray for the family of a young deaf man who was recently shot and killed by soldiers because he could not hear their commands to ‘stop’. Pray also for the Ephphatha community as they mourn his death but also as they live with the fear that something similar could happen to them as well.
Week 2
Thu 8th – Uganda Pray for the outcast young mothers at Wakisa who now need to support themselves and their new children. Praise God for Wakisa’s vocational training program that empowers these young women to learn skills and earn a living.
Fri 9th – DR Congo Praise God that, so far, none of our ministry partners’ staff members have lost their lives during the invasion or ongoing violence. Keep praying for their safety as they continue to face dangerous situations as they work to serve the most vulnerable people in their communities.
Sat 10th – Cambodia Continue praying for Sunshine’s fundraising efforts. Many of their international donors have had to reduce their financial support, so pray for God’s guidance as they seek new partnerships and opportunities.
Sun 11th – Indonesia Pray for safety for our partners in Indonesia. There is a lot of opportunistic crime in the areas where they work and the roads they travel between the office and the villages are also quite challenging and dangerous. Pray that God would have His hand over them.
Mon 12th – India Pray for the children and families in BCM’s sponsorship program. Pray that they would experience stability and improved living conditions through the program, but also that they might find peace, hope and spiritual growth as well.
Tue 13th – DR Congo Continue praying for the security guard at Ephphatha, who was on duty when a bomb struck the chapel during the M23 attack. He has recovered physically (he went three days without food while remaining on site) but pray for him as he continues to struggle with the trauma of what he saw and experienced.
Wed 14th – Uganda After all the flooding earlier this year (and the impact it had on families in CFM’s agricultural program) praise God for a recent run of favourable weather for the latest round of crops.
Week 3
Thu 15th – DR Congo Praise God for all the doctors, nurses, and social workers at the HEAL Africa hospital who selflessly kept the hospital running during the invasion and treated more than double their usual capacity (they have 250 beds but received 517 injured patients during the first 48 hours of the battle).
Fri 16th – Uganda Continue praying for the new mums at the Wakisa centre who are currently trying to reconcile with their families. Pray for these girls, their children, their parents and the Wakisa team as they support the girls and facilitate these reconciliations.
Sat 17th – Indonesia Continue praying for our partners as they’re currently recruiting a new health worker to join their Southwest Sumba team.
Sun 18th – India Pray for the congregations and leaders of the local village churches in the communities BCM serves. Praise God for their faith and commitment in the face of many challenges.
Mon 19th – Cambodia Praise God for Sunshine’s partner churches. Praise God for blessing their ministries and seeing them bear fruit in the communities they serve.
Tue 20th – DR Congo Continue praying for Elyse (a lab technician at Ephphatha) who narrowly escaped stray bullets during the invasion. She is physically ok but traumatised. Praise God for protecting her life and pray that He would help her find peace.
Wed 21st – Uganda Praise God for blessing CFM’s recent pastor and church leader training event.
Week 4
Thu 22nd – Uganda Praise God for the staff at the Wakisa Centre who are showing God’s love to outcast young mothers right when they need it most.
Fri 23rd – DR Congo Praise God that HEAL Africa has been able to reopen their primary school in the Mugunga displaced people camp. Praise God that many children have already returned to school and keep praying for the safety of those families that HEAL hasn’t yet been able to contact.
Sat 24th – Cambodia Pray for the children and their families in Sunshine’s programs. As a result of Cambodia’s current financial crisis, some parents have had to move to Phnom Penh or other provinces to find work. So, many of the children have been left with elderly relatives who often struggle to support the children’s studies and nutrition.
Sun 25th – India Many families in the communities that BCM serve lack proper identification documents. This causes many challenges in terms of accessing housing, services, loans, etc. Pray that local political leaders can prioritise the welfare of these vulnerable communities and help get the documents they need.
Mon 26th – Indonesia Praise God for our partner’s Village Savings groups in Southwest Sumba, which are helping individuals to be able to put aside some personal savings and have access to much needed funds to support their family livelihoods.
Tue 27th – DR Congo Continue praying for protection over the youths in HEAL’s Uamusho group. They are especially vulnerable right now because they live on the streets and have nowhere to shelter from the violence and chaos.
Wed 28th – Uganda Praise God for blessing CFM’s recent business training for members of their village savings and loan program.
Week 5
Thu 29th – Cambodia Continue praying for Sunshine’s Mothers’ Clubs. Many of these mothers work in factories, or run small businesses to support their families, making it difficult for them to attend. Pray that, despite these challenges, every mother will be able to attend and benefit from the meetings.
Fri 30th – DR Congo As the conflict continues throughout other regions of the DR Congo, keep praying for the soldiers on both sides. Pray that God would give them hearts of mercy towards the civilians they come across in this battle.
Sat 31st – Indonesia Praise God for the new Children’s Assembly that our partner just launched in partnership with their local government department.
