Week 1
Tue 1st – DR Congo Pray for Charmant (Ephphatha’s Director) and his wife, who suffered a heart attack in the midst of the invasion. Praise God she survived but pray for her as she is still in hospital because they haven’t got her blood pressure stable yet.
Wed 2nd – Uganda Praise God for continuing to bless CFM’s door-to-door evangelism program. Praise God for the 64 people who recently gave their life to Christ and for the church that was planted in Bukhalu.
Thu 3rd – India Pray for the children and families in BCM’s sponsorship program. Pray that they would experience stability and improved living conditions through the program, but also that they might find peace, hope and spiritual growth as well.
Fri 4th – Indonesia Praise God for the strength and persistence of farmers in our partner’s agricultural project, who recently completed building the commercial garden beds. The next step is planting the seeds. Pray that, even during this rainy season, the plants will grow well, and that, in time, they will get a good harvest.
Sat 5th – Cambodia Praise God for Sunshine’s partner churches. Praise God for blessing their ministries and seeing them bear fruit in the communities. Praise God that His kingdom is being strengthened and expanded.
Sun 6th – Uganda Praise God for everyone at the Wakisa Centre who, every day, are showing and sharing God’s love with outcast young mothers right when they need it most.
Mon 7th – DR Congo Pray for the ambulance driver at HEAL who was shot while driving his ambulance (to attend to the injured) during the invasion. Praise God that he survived and will recover physically from his wounds but pray for God’s peace over him as he has been traumatised by the ordeal.
Week 2
Tue 8th – Uganda Praise God for the young mums at Wakisa who have chosen to return to school. Pray for them as they face the unique challenges of parenting alongside the ‘typical’ challenges of school life. Praise God that Wakisa can support them through their sponsorship program.
Wed 9th – DR Congo Electricity and water (which gets pumped into the city using electricity) were both completely cut off during the battle. Electricity is slowly returning (about ¼ of the city has power now) but the water pumps haven’t got power yet. Pray that electricity and water will soon return to the whole city.
Thu 10th – Cambodia Pray for the children and their families in Sunshine’s programs. As a result of Cambodia’s current financial crisis, some parents have had to move to Phnom Penh or other provinces to find work. So, many of the children have been left with elderly relatives who often struggle to support the children’s studies and nutrition.
Fri 11th – Indonesia Praise God for the new Children’s Assembly that our partner just launched in partnership with their local government department.
Sat 12th – India Pray for the congregations and leaders of the local village churches in the communities BCM serves. Praise God for their faith and commitment in the face of many challenges.
Sun 13th – DR Congo With safe water in such short supply in Goma, it’s likely that people will soon be forced to start drinking water from Lake Kivu, which is known to contain cholera. Pray that safe water can be returned to the city and that God would protect the people from another cholera outbreak.
Mon 14th – Uganda Pray for Nicholas at CFM and for his mother who has been very sick in recent months. Pray for a full return to good health for her and for Nicholas as he supports her at this time.
Week 3
Tue 15th – DR Congo The M23 have taken control of the city but proper law and order is not yet being maintained. In the resulting chaos our partners are hearing reports of people being shot or attacked almost every night. Pray for safety for our partners and the people of Goma, and that some kind of law and order can return soon.
Wed 16th – Uganda Pray for the young mothers at Wakisa who can’t return to school because they need to earn a living. Praise God for Wakisa’s vocational training program that empowers these young women to support themselves and their children.
Thu 17th – Indonesia Praise God for Lidia, a local woman, who joined our ministry partner’s team in a finance and admin role. We previously prayed for her as she was finding some aspects of the role challenging. Praise God that she is now confidently and capably handling her responsibilities.
Fri 18th – India Continue praying for the staff member at BCM who has two close family members struggling with alcoholism. Pray that they might find healing and strength to overcome their challenges and pray God would bless her efforts to support them.
Sat 19th – Cambodia Please pray for Sunshine’s upcoming Mothers’ Clubs. Many of these mothers work in factories, or run small businesses to support their families, making it difficult for them to attend. Pray that despite these challenges, every mother will be able to attend and benefit from the meetings.
Sun 20th – DR Congo Pray for protection over the youths in HEAL’s Uamusho group. They are especially vulnerable because they live on the streets and have nowhere to shelter from the violence and chaos.
Mon 21st – Uganda Praise God for CFM’s recent child protection training, which helped both children and parents learn how to guard against and report domestic violence or any form of child abuse.
Week 4
Tue 22nd – Uganda Continue praying for the new mums at the Wakisa centre who are currently trying to reconcile with their families. Pray for these girls, their children, their parents and the Wakisa team as they support the girls and facilitate these reconciliations.
Wed 23rd – DR Congo Pray for protection over Ephphatha and the deaf community during the ongoing chaos in Goma. They are particularly vulnerable as they cannot hear the signs of danger, radio reports, or other key pieces of information.
Thu 24th – Cambodia Continue praying for God’s wisdom and guidance as Sunshine explores expanding their School Development Program into a new rural province, where there are a number of ethnic minorities and families are suffering from high levels of poverty and challenges accessing education.
Fri 25th – India Praise God for BCM’s sponsorship program and pray that it would continue to bring transformative change to the communities it serves.
Sat 26th – Uganda Pray that God would continue to protect the CFM team in the field and as they travel between the communities they serve.
Sun 27th – DR Congo Perhaps more than anything, our partners keep expressing to us the amount of trauma that everyone in Goma is suffering from. Pray that God would pour down His peace on our partners and the people of Goma and help them to reconcile with the horrors they’ve seen and experienced.
Mon 28th – Indonesia Praise God for our partner’s Village Savings groups in Southwest Sumba, which are helping individuals to be able to put aside some personal savings and have access to much needed funds to support their family livelihoods.
Week 5
Tue 29th – Uganda Even though Uganda’s presidential election is not expected until next January, there are already concerns about political conflict and instability in the lead up. Pray for peace over the country during this time.
Wed 30th – DR Congo Pray for people living in the displaced people (IDP) camps around Goma. The M23 are reportedly ordering them to leave the camps and return to their villages, but many villages have been ravaged by the war and so there is nothing (no food, homes, or livelihood) for them to return to.
