Transforming lives through art class

Right now, in the city of Goma, in the DR Congo, there are thousands of children and young adults living on the streets.

Sharing God’s love for each of these vulnerable ‘street kids’, one of our ministry partners in the region created the Uamusho Project, an outreach program that provides refuge and empowerment for young people living on the streets.

And as part of their wholistic approach to trauma therapy, Uamusho recently started a brand-new art class.

Helping a father heal his son

From the moment Beni* was born it was clear that something wasn’t quite right.

Had he been born here in Australia, they may have picked it up early in a pregnancy scan, and they would’ve likely treated him within the first few months of his life.

Beni is now four years old and lives with his father, Joseph, in one of the outer districts of Goma city in the DR Congo. And he’s lived his whole life so far with a congenital malformation in both legs…
